Open the connection menu
In the game, select Sandbox, Live server, or the current connection status in the header. The connection panel contains the game API and optional realtime URL fields.
Set the game API URL
Enter the base URL of a compatible game backend, for example:
https://localhost:4440/api/v1/gameThe client appends /state to retrieve snapshots and /commands to submit orders. Use your backend’s actual address. The example is a local development address, not a public server listing.
Choose Connect to server. When connected, the server provides the state of your empire and controls game ticks. Connection feedback appears in the panel and status bar.
Optional realtime connection
If your backend provides a snapshot stream, enter its WebSocket URL:
wss://localhost:4444/gameLeave this field empty to use REST polling. An authenticated session uses the access token stored by the account panel.
Return to the sandbox
Open the connection menu and select Use local sandbox. Your local game is separate from server-authoritative play. Reset sandbox starts a fresh scenario and replaces the local saved game.
Development defaults
Developers can set PUBLIC_GAME_API_URL and PUBLIC_GAME_WS_URL in their environment to provide default connection addresses. These values are public browser configuration. See the project’s .env.example for the expected format.
